This is the very first mosque which was build by the government in this island. This masjid was opened by former Minister of Atoll Administration Honorable Abdulla Hameed in 1982. The idea and suggestion of this masjid was proposed to the President Maumoon Abul Gayoom by the island chief in 1981, during his visit to one of the Youth Camp held at Thulusdhoo. The mosque was build by MSL, a government contractor. People from the island were also some of the employs who work in this project.
